The original vase was created from a single block of lapis lazuli stone. The closest quarry to Egypt is in modern day Afghanistan, it would have been acquired by Egypt via trade. Lapis was prized due to its unique color. it is said that lapis was extremely difficult to quarry from the cliffs where it is found. The age is quite evident on this piece. Due to staining, it seems to have been sitting on its side in the dirt for several millennia. The limited edition 3D print is 1:1 size of the original vase.
This Limited-Edition 3D Print was digitally replicated from the original Predynastic Lapis Lazuli Vase 3500 BC – 3200 BC.
