The original vase was created from a single block of red granite (stone). It is extraordinarily precise and has incredibly thin walls. Light from a flashlight easily passes through the walls. Experts dated the original vase to Egypt in the predynastic period, 3500BC - 3100BC. Fayez Barakat, owner of Barakat Galleries, states that he purchased it from the private collection of Teddy Kollek in 1968.

The replica was printed using an .STL file that was obtained from a high-resolution scan of the original vase, using a Nikon 4M-RTSS Scanner. CT scanning insures incredibly accurate replication of both inner and outer surfaces.
Prior to your purchase, please also consider that Ancient Stone Vases, LLC feels that artifact is too precise to have been manufactured with primitive hand tools. Therefore, either ancient people had more advanced tools than we know about, or this object is a more modern imitation.
This vare is a beautiful representation of the stone, style and size of work that ancient Egyptians were known for and other cultures were unable to replicate.
